Post-watching Christina Aguilera and Beyonce perform live here in the
Meantime, Ron convinced me to watch the Akon concert held last night at the Araneta. Amidst a failed coup attempt and a government-imposed curfew, the concert was well-attended. I was never an Akon fan. Still am not, but I must say it was a really, really, really fun concert!
Ron did well in persuading me to watch with him! Sans the big screen, laser lights and smoke machines, the concert’s charm depended on Akon and his posse’s energy. Akon was VERY interactive---engaging the entire Araneta, calling out ”Manila!”, reaching out to the crowd and at one point, even emerging from the middle of the crowd after feigning an exit. Cheap tricks but ultimately effective!
How effective was he? Well, I don’t particularly like his songs but he sure got me dancing! Even better, at the corner of my eye I saw RON DANCING! Now to all those who know Ron you’d know this was such a rare occasion! Hooray! Dancing with his slipped disc and all…
Now why did I skip writing about Christina Aguilera’s and Beyonce’s concerts and here I go blogging about Akon’s? Because I’m pretty sure YOU didn’t see it! And it’s highly likely that you don’t know anyone else who saw it either! I just feel that it was an intense concert and it deserves a shout out. So smack that!
