My First Morning as Mrs. Dizon!

It’s 8:58 in the morning and I’m writing this from our room in Hyatt. Outside the window I could see Manila Bay’s violent waves---no ships docked, no dragon boat racers practicing, no sun, and not a cloud in sight.

Let the rain fall, i don't care
I'm yours and suddenly you're mine
Suddenly you're mine
And it's brighter than sunshine

Yesterday was MY perfect day. There were rain showers, but the weather wasn’t as bad as it is today. The rains stopped in time for the wedding, allowing my entourage and myself to walk down the aisle dry. Rains poured after the recessional but that I only saw as a sign of future blessings.

June 21, Summer Solstice, I married the most wonderful man--- my best friend, my crush Mr. Ron Dizon. Last night we partied with family and friends in celebration of the union. We had a blast! All that comprehensive wedding planning, and last minute choreographing of the memorable FIRST DANCE were all worth it. Now we’re still feeling euphoric from the festivities and the thought of life together, forever.

That wedding was TRULY a labor of love. A lot of our suppliers were family and friends---invites, all videos, pre-nup photos, truffles for favors, cake, first dance choreography, bridal car, Hyatt rooms, the billboard and everything else printed. We’ve been blessed with great, talented, and generous connections. For this, I am forever grateful.

Today, I wake up feeling my heart bursting with happiness. It’s my first morning as Mrs. Dizon!

What a feeling in my soul
Love burns brighter than sunshine

Typhoon and all, by far, I still feel this is the best morning of my life.

Love is amazing. God is great.

P.S. Although we still hope the weather gets better because we’re flying out for the honeymoon tonight. Eeeeep! Still have to pack…oh well…

Ron Dizon and Nikki Gloria's DREAM TEAM

Lately, my hyperacidity’s been bad. It’s probably the erratic sleeping hours, and a bit of the anxiety. I’ve been eating well these past few days because I could not afford to shed off too much. Anymore dieting and I’d lose my boobs…and that won’t look too good on the gown.

I have been asked several times if we had a wedding site. Ron and I intended to have one but procrastination kicked in. Alas, we’re 17 days away from the big day and there’s nothing to show.

Thank God for multiply. It’s such a convenient avenue to post updates, photos and what not’s. So, in keeping with the pseudo-wedding site role my personal site has turned into, here’s a rundown of our wedding suppliers.

Ron, I want to make sure you know what you're marrying in to, so I'm coming clean...

I found these photos while looking for pictures for the video. Well, who would have guessed, I was once... a... fat boy!

10 great things about MY MOM

got tagged by Mig... so here goes!

1) Mom’s the QUEEN BEE-yatch but she’s so much fun when she’s not anal about things

2) She’s the most thoughtful mom in the world---giving us valentines’ day gifts, Halloween treats, Easter treats, Hanukkah treats(I’m kidding) and more special occasion treats…

3) She wakes up in the middle of the night to do a headcount of all her kids, paranoid but ultimately sweet!

4) She taught us the value of respecting people’s right to privacy. She won’t read you phone nor your letters, not even if they’re right in front of her.

5) The first time I got drunk ever (which was a year after I graduated from college!), she took care of me---wiping my limbs with a wet towel in the wee hours of the morning…

6) Got the fountain of youth genes from her (she can pass for my sister!)

7) Mom taught me the value of managing money. That’s what a banker mom does!

8) She can bust a move and won’t hesitate when challenged to a dance off (vs my Dad lang naman eh)---makes for great entertainment at home. J

9) She eventually learned how to cook (after 26 years of married life). She hates hot oil on her skin, but she really tries. J

10) She’s the most beautiful, coolest mom in the world (for me at least) J

Missing Jen...

I'm definitely going to miss you Jen!

April 1, 2008. Jenny de Dios--- my smart, sassy, sexy pole sister is off to Japan. No! Not to do pole! But to pursue further studies as a scholar of the Japanese government (did I say she was smart?).

I will definitely miss attending class with you---babaeng walang taba!!!

I will miss trying out tricks with you…

And oh, trying out physical therapy sessions too…

Alam mo naman, kapwa injured tayo.

So glad we were able to meet up at Starbucks last night.

Thanks for the Iced Caramel Macchiato…

And oh, you really did a good job at convincing my sister to put up a Facebook account. She now has one.

Jen…Ms. Spreadable Spinner. Hope to see you again soon!

Christmas with My Fiance, My Ex and My Ex’s Family

December 25---I dropped by my ex’s house to greet his family Happy Holidays. His sister, a flight attendant, was in town so I had to meet up with her for updates! Before you get any ideas, Ron was the one who dropped me off their house.

Yes. I’m still friends with my ex and his sisters. In fact, Ron is friends with my ex. Some people find the set-up a little weird, but I guess you can’t shrug off 12 years of friendship just like that. Also, Ron knew him from college, through me--- because Ron was my kabarkada.

At first it was just me in the house. Ron went someplace else. Sister 1 and I chatted on the couch. She was actually asking me about my upcoming wedding while I asked her for updates on her adventures. It was merienda time but I was served the yummiest Caldereta this side of the planet. (My ex is actually accusing me of dropping by just so I can eat his Mom’s Caldereta, which she only cooks during Christmas). Post-caldereta and several pistachio nuts after, Ron was back to pick me up. But the kwentuhan wasn’t done yet! So my ex went out to invite Ron in. Thinking Ron would be too shy to come in, I hurriedly finished off the leche flan on my plate so I could go.

To my surprise, Ron agreed to come in!

He too was served Caldereta.Yum!

And so there we all were…on the dining table…on Christmas Day.

Nikki…

Ron…

Ex…

Ex’s Mom…

Ex’s Sister 1…

Ex’s Sister 3...

It was almost like a Big Brother experiment; or more aptly, a scene from a holiday movie! I swear I could have heard a voice over from somewhere.

The exchange of stories flowed naturally. There was no sense of awkwardness. We were talking, laughing, and yeah, eating, a lot!

At that moment I felt assured---I am one lucky girl. I still keep in touch with my ex and his family because we understand that our relationship is built on friendship. Best of all, for all this to happen, means that my fiance and I have reached a certain level of trust and understanding. I felt that everything was falling into place before we get married.

Each day becomes a validation. And I just can’t wait…
