I woke up this morning and found my brother watching D2:The Mighty Ducks 2. It was all too bizarrely familiar--- the musical score, the lines, the jerseys. I watched the movie a gazillion times that I know the story line by heart. I was, and probably still am, a Mighty Ducks fanatic.
Silly as it may sound, the series was such a big part of my tweener life. Joshua Jackson (a.k.a Charlie Conway # 96) was my ultimate crush. At the risk of sounding like a total geek, I'm still saying it---my friends and I used to act out our favorite scenes from the movie. We were 12 then, so we didn't know any better.
Julie Gaffney#6, the goalie, was my favorite girl character. That's how my love affair with the #6 started. I used to think I'll have 6 kids. Tsk. Tsk. Not anymore.
I also took Ice Skating lessons because of the movie.
When we went to the U.S. summer of '95, going to Anaheim was one of the highlights of the trip, for me at least. Needless to say, I had a bagful of Mighty Ducks items when we got home---anything from a hockey stick to book adaptations of the 2 movies to pins to stickers to shirts.
I just realized how little it took to make me happy back then. Simple joys. Really.
Ok, go ahead. You may now call me a geek.
